1. Exercise proper techniques when installing these
vibration absorbers.
A. Apply a heat block paste such as thermal block or
wet rag to the brazed joint between the copper
socket and the stainless steel ferrule on the
vibration absorber prior to heating.
B. Heat the copper tube going into the copper
socket first, then apply heat to the copper socket
and apply solder to finish the connection.
C. Always direct flame away from the vibration
absorber.
2. It is recommended that a soft silver bearing solder be
used to make the joint as excessive heat can damage
the vibration absorber.
3. Vibration absorbers are designed to absorb shock and
vibration perpendicular to the direction fo installation.
They are not designed to absorb shock in the form of
sudden tension or compression loading along its long
axis. The Vibration absorber series should only be
installed in a straight line, never offset to compensate
for misaligned piping or other improper installation
techniques.
If the vibration absorber is to be used in a suction line
that will go below the freezing point, the entire vibration
absorber should be wrapped with a waterproof barrier.
This is to prevent condensation from forming and
freezing under the braid which can collapse the
convolutions, possibly resulting in leaks.
5.
For best res ults, the vibration absorber should be
installed as close to the compressor as possible along
the axis of the compressor's crankshaft, since this is
the most common source of vibration, and anchored to
a solid structure at the end farthest away from the
compressor(see figure below). If vibrations occur in
both the vertical and horizontal directions, place two
vibration absorbers.
